Zinedine Zidane rubbishes Real Madrid exit rumours

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane denies rumours that he informed his players of an imminent departure from the club this summer.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has emphatically denied reports claiming that he has informed his squad of his desire to leave the Bernabeu.

The Frenchman's future in the Blancos hotseat remains a major talking point, with his existing deal due to expire next summer as Real aspire to retain their La Liga crown.

A recent report claimed that Zidane had told Real Madrid's players that he would be stepping down from his role at the end of the season, but the former Galactico has rubbished such rumours.

Speaking to reporters following Sunday's 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao, Zidane said: "How could I tell the players I'm leaving now? We're giving our everything for the title and I just say 'by the way, I'm off'?.

"People outside the club can say whatever they like, but I would never, ever say that to my players. At the end of the season then we'll see what happens, but right now we're focused on our final game.

"We can't just keep talking about my future. The last game of the season is far more important than that."

A second-half goal from Nacho against Athletic kept Real Madrid two points behind Atletico Madrid ahead of the final matchday in La Liga, with Zidane's men taking on Villarreal next Sunday.
