Real Madrid's Eden Hazard has revealed that he still wants to stay and prove himself at the club, despite a difficult few years in Spain.
Hazard has dealt with numerous injury issues since his big-money move from Chelsea in 2019, playing in fewer than half of the club's matches every season since he arrived.
This campaign has provided Hazard with just three La Liga appearances, as manager Carlo Ancelotti has left him as an unused substitute in Real's last six matches.
However, despite regular speculation over his future, Hazard insists that he wishes to stay and that an imminent transfer away is not in his plans.
"I would like to stay, I have always said it. I hope to play to show that I can still do it. People have doubts, it's normal. I understand it really good. But for me, I'm still here next year," he toldĀ Belgian media outlet RTBF.
"You never know, but a transfer is not in the plan. What can make me change my mind? I don't know. All I think about is playing. That's why I don't even think about leaving. Deep down, I think I can contribute something."
Hazard has 18 months left on his contract, but has revealed he has no relationship with current manager Ancelotti, saying: "There is respect between us. But I'm not going to say that we talk to each other, because we don't talk to each other. But there will always be respect."
In total, Hazard has featured just 73 times over the last four years for Madrid, scoring seven goals. body check tags ::
