Real Madrid could reportedly decide to retain the services of James Rodriguez this summer, despite the Colombia international being strongly linked with a move away from the club.
Rodriguez, who has spent the last two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich, is believed to be a transfer target for both Napoli and Atletico Madrid in this summer's transfer window.
The attacker was said to be surplus to requirements at Madrid, who have been active in the transfer market.
However, according to AS, Marco Asensio's serious knee injury could see Zinedine Zidane keep hold of Rodriguez and hand the South American a fresh chance at the Bernabeu.
Asensio suffered a knee ligament injury shortly after finding the back of the net in Tuesday's 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the International Champions Cup.
Rodriguez has scored 36 times in 111 appearances for Los Blancos in all competitions, including 11 in 33 games for the Spanish giants during the 2016-17 campaign.
