Kylian Mbappe has admitted that he requested to leave Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window.
With the France international having less than a year remaining on his contract, Real Madrid made a number of big-money bids for his services.
However, PSG opted against accepting any of those offers, instead preferring to use the coming months to negotiate fresh terms with the World Cup winner.
Despite acknowledging his desire to depart Parc des Princes, the 22-year-old says that he did not argue with PSG's decision to keep him at the club.
Speaking to RMC Sport in an interview which will air on Tuesday, Mbappe said: "I asked to leave, because from the moment where I did not want to extend, I wanted for the club to receive a transfer fee so that they could bring in a quality replacement.
"This club has given me a lot, I have always been happy, the 4 years I have had here, and I still am. I said it early enough so that the club could react.
"I wanted everyone to come out of this stronger, that we leave hand in hand, to have a good deal and I respected that. I said, if you don't want me to go, I will stay."
Should Mbappe not pen a new contract before the end of the year, he will be able to hold discussions with any club outside of France. body check tags ::
