Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe has claimed that he has "almost" come to a decision on his future.

The World Cup winner's next career move has been a major talking point for the past 12 months as he runs down the final weeks of his existing contract with the French champions.

Real Madrid are still thought to be optimistic about securing Mbappe's signature as a free agent after losing out on Erling Braut Haaland to Manchester City.

However, there has been recent talk of a possible renewal with PSG, although Mbappe's mother has since denied the existence of such an agreement.

With the former Monaco starlet now due to become a free agent in six weeks' time, Real Madrid have allegedly been telling people close to the club that his signing will be official soon.

The topic of Mbappe's future inevitably came up when the 23-year-old attended a presentation evening to collect his Ligue 1 Player of the Year trophy for the third consecutive time.

When questioned by reporters on his next career move, Mbappe responded: "I made the mistake three years ago of taking over the ceremony. I want to participate in the ceremony, no look for glory. We will know really soon, it's almost done. My decision is made, yes, almost.

"It's always a huge pleasure being here. It's an honor, which is why I insisted on coming. Winning for a third consecutive time is incredible. I want to thank PSG, my teammates, my coach, and all those people working behind the scenes.

"We are proud of our tenth title. This year, more than ever before, I felt recognition and admiration. Thank you all. I will continue my story. I'm never satisfied."

Mbappe scooped the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award after racking up 25 goals and 19 assists in 34 games so far - leading the league in both categories after scoring one and setting up two more in the weekend's 4-0 thumping of Montpellier HSC.

Mbappe's 25 strikes sees him sit one clear of Wissam Ben Yedder - who also made the Team of the Year - in the race for the Golden Boot, while Lionel Messi is closest behind in assists with 13.

The Frenchman has now played 216 games for the capital club since his initial loan move from Monaco in 2017, scoring 168 goals and setting up 87 more in that period.

PSG will wrap up their Ligue 1 campaign with the visit of Metz to the Parc des Princes on Saturday, which could very well end up being Mbappe's final game for the club.

Mbappe is not the only PSG attacker set for a fresh start elsewhere in 2022-23, as Angel Di Maria is also widely expected to leave upon the expiration of his contract.

Elsewhere on Sunday night, PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was crowned Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year, despite only keeping five clean sheets in 17 matches for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

Mbappe, Donnarumma, Nuno Mendes and Marquinhos all made the Team of the Year, while Arsenal loanee William Saliba was crowned Young Player of the Year following a stellar loan spell at Marseille. body check tags ::
