Real Madrid captain Marcelo has said that he wants to "retire" at the Spanish club.
The 33-year-old has been restricted to just 12 appearances in all competitions during the 2021-22 campaign, and he will be out of contract at Bernabeu at the end of June.
Marcelo continues to be strongly linked with a return to Brazil, with Real Madrid allegedly not planning to offer the left-back the chance to remain at the club.
However, the Brazil international is still hopeful that he could sign a new contract with Carlo Ancelotti's side.
"I'm calm," Marcelo told El Hormiguero. "This is my club. I have the idea of playing until my son grows up so that I can play with him, and I want to keep going at a high level. Now we have important matches. I'm the captain of the best team in the world. I'm calm and I feel protected.
"I'm not thinking too far ahead. Everything comes to an end. I'd like to retire here, but it's not up to me to make the decision."
Marcelo has made 540 appearances for Real Madrid since arriving from Fluminense in 2007, contributing 38 goals and 101 assists in the process. body check tags ::
