Napoli are reportedly attempting to extend the contract of Fabian Ruiz with Real Madrid circling.
The Spain international enjoyed an impressive 2018-19 campaign for Napoli after arriving from Real Betis.
According to Calciomercato, Madrid failed with a £40m swoop for the 23-year-old during the summer transfer window, and the Serie A outfit are now attempting to extend Ruiz's deal.
The midfielder still has four years left to run on the five-year contract that he penned upon his arrival, but the report claims that Napoli want to remove the release clause, in addition to raising his salary by £2.7m per year.
Ruiz has scored seven times and provided three assists in 42 appearances for Carlo Ancelotti's side in all competitions.
