The agent of Luka Modric has refused to shut down rumours that his client could leave Real Madrid when the January transfer window opens for business.

The Croatia international was heavily linked with a move away from Los Blancos over the summer, with his contract coming to an end, but he ultimately penned a one-year extension.

The 38-year-old has made 15 appearances for Real Madrid this season, but he has only started six times, with the majority his outings coming off the bench in the second half of matches.

Modric recently admitted that he was not happy with his lack of starts, and there have been suggestions that he could leave in January, with a number of Saudi Arabian clubs thought to be interested.

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti said last month that he was expecting the midfielder to remain at Bernabeu for the rest of the season.

However, there is not an obvious route for him back into the starting XI, as he was again named on the bench against Valencia last weekend despite Aurelien Tchouameni being out with a broken foot.

Eduardo Camavinga, Toni Kroos, Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde are all ahead of him in the pecking order, and clubs from Saudi Arabia are said to be lining up January moves.

Borja Couce, who represents Modric, has refused to rule out a mid-season switch, claiming that a move to the Saudi Pro League "is possible if the offer is suitable".

"Saudi clubs? This summer there was interest in Modric with the aim of signing him. The player had several offers, from a club from the capital and another club," Couce told Shoot.

"Modric is currently thinking about Real Madrid, but the idea of him moving to the Saudi Pro League is possible if the offer is suitable.

"I wouldn't want to go into that now (his exit), there is still a long time to go until the winter and the end of the year.

"I've said it many times, at my age, you can't plan anything in advance, you have to go one day at a time from game to game and we'll see what the future holds."

Modric has made 503 appearances for Real Madrid in all competitions, scoring 37 goals and registering 78 assists in the process.

Dinamo Zagreb have also recently said that they want to re-sign Modric next year, with the club's president of the board Vlatka Peras talking up a move.
