Real Madrid are reportedly preparing to offer Eder Militao a new and improved contract at Bernabeu.
The 24-year-old initially found it difficult to break into the Los Blancos side upon his arrival from Porto in July 2019 due to the presence of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane at the club.
Ramos and Varane both left the capital giants last summer, though, and Militao enjoyed an impressive 2021-22 campaign for Carlo Ancelotti's side, making 50 appearances, contributing two goals and three assists.
Militao still has more than three years left to run on his contract at Bernabeu, but he is believed to be one of the lowest-paid members of the first-team squad.
According to Goal, Real Madrid want to reward the Brazil international for his strong performances by offering him a new lucrative contract in the Spanish capital.
The report claims that Militao's representatives will meet with the club's board 'in the coming days' with a view to discussing the details of the contract.
The centre-back is said to be happy in Madrid and prepared to sign a new deal despite interest from other clubs, with a number of Premier League sides said to be admirers.
Militao has scored four goals and registered four assists in 91 appearances for Real Madrid in all competitions, winning two La Liga titles, two Spanish Super Cups and the Champions League.
The defender is also expected to be a part of the Brazil squad for the 2022 World Cup but faces a battle for a starting role from the likes of Thiago Silva and Marquinhos.
David Alaba joined Real Madrid on a free transfer from Bayern Munich last summer, and he made 46 appearances for Los Blancos during the 2021-22 campaign.
Ancelotti's team have allegedly agreed a deal to sign Antonio Rudiger on a free transfer from Chelsea, although there has yet not been an official announcement from the Champions League winners.
Nacho again played an important squad role for Los Blancos during the 2021-22 season and is expected to stay this summer, but Jesus Vallejo's future is unclear.
Real Madrid are also said to be in advanced talks over a deal for Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, with the club set to beat Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain to his signature.
Ancelotti's side are also expected to bring a new attacker to the club ahead of the 2022-23 campaign, having missed out on a deal for Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe. body check tags ::
