Real Madrid are reportedly determined to seal the signature of Lyon defender Ferland Mendy.
Marcelo has been reinstated as Madrid's first-choice left-back since Zinedine Zidane returned as head coach.
The position remains an area of concern for the European champions, though, and according to Marca, Mendy has been identified as the perfect player to put pressure on Marcelo next term.
The report adds that Madrid have already met with Lyon to discuss terms, and are hopeful of sealing a deal in the early stages of this summer's transfer window.
The 23-year-old, who made his senior France debut last November, joined Lyon from Le Havre in 2017.
The defender - also linked with Barcelona - has scored three times and contributed three assists in 41 appearances in all competitions for his Ligue 1 side this term.
