Espanyol are reportedly facing the possibility of missing out on the permanent signing of Real Madrid midfielder Lucas Vasquez this summer.
The 23-year-old is currently on loan at the Catalan outfit, who have an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
It is understood that Espanyol need to come up with £1.5m to sign the midfielder, but according to Football Espana, the Spanish club are currently without the funds due to their financial problems.
Vasquez's form this season has led to talk of a Spain call-up, while a number of clubs are said to be monitoring developments should Espanyol fail to come up with the money by the end of May.
