Zinedine Zidane is reportedly pushing the Real Madrid board to hand Federico Valverde a new and improved contract.
The 21-year-old has been given a huge show of faith by Zidane this term and has rewarded his head coach with a string of impressive displays.
Valverde is one of the lowest-earning players in Madrid's first-team squad, but a report in Spain suggests that the Uruguayan may soon receive a pay rise.
Zidane is said to be keen for fresh terms to be agreed as soon as possible, despite Valverde still having three years to run on his existing deal.
The report indicates that the academy product could be handed a contract worth £4.4m a year, running through until the end of the 2024-25 season.
