James Rodriguez's move to Napoli this summer has reportedly gone cold after Napoli turned their attention towards signing Hirving Lozano from PSV Eindhoven instead.
The Colombia international, who has spent the last two years on loan at Bayern Munich, does not figure in the plans of Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane.
Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti made it clear earlier in the summer that he would love to bring Rodriguez - with whom he briefly worked alongside at Bayern - to Italy before the transfer window shuts.
According to Marca, however, the move for Rodriguez has been abandoned after Napoli grew exasperated in their pursuit of the attacking midfielder.
Napoli have switched their focus towards attaining the signature of Lozano, who is four years younger and would be much easier to procure.
Reports have claimed that Atletico Madrid are confident of completing a deal for Rodriguez after the English transfer window closed without a Premier League club making an effort to sign the 27-year-old.
