Real Sociedad have won their first home match under new manager David Moyes after Carlos Vela scored a hat-trick in their 3-0 win over Elche this evening.
The striker put the hosts ahead inside the opening three minutes, sending a powerful header past Przemyslaw Tyton after Carlos Martinez had chipped the ball forward.
Sergio Canales could have doubled their lead a few minutes later, but his delivery was easily held by the Elche stopper.
Moyes's side did extend their advantage before the break though as Xabi Prieto sent in a low ball for Vela, who rounded a couple of defenders before slotting it into the bottom corner.
Elche had a chance to pull one back at the start of the second half, but Adrian Gonzalez's header was high of the crossbar.
Sociedad were soon back in control of the match, with Alberto de la Bella attempting to put Tyson under pressure, but he diverted the strike with a diving save.
Vela completed his hat-trick before the hour mark, with Martinez setting him up again for a drive in off the left post.
Coro showed off his footwork skills in a bid to give the visitors some hope of a fightback, but he fired just wide after beating a number of defenders.
Esteban Granero and Ruben Pardo both had chances to add to the score for the home side late on, but the first missed the post while the latter's effort was well saved.
The win moves Sociedad up to 13th in the table, while Elche remain in the relegation zone.
