Thierry Henry has praised new teammate Tim Cahill after his impressive debut for the New York Red Bulls.
Cahill made an immediate impact for the Red Bulls, winning a penalty in the opening few minutes of his debut against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.
The 32-year-old midfielder made the move to Major League Soccer last week after spending eight years in the Premier League with Everton.
Henry said that Cahill showed he is a clever player who will be crucial for the Red Bulls as they look to win their first MLS title.
The French striker said: "You saw a little cameo of what he can do. He's clever.
"You saw Teemu Tainio and Tim not running a lot, just putting yourself playing where you should be. Football is not only running, going up-and down without playing the ball. You've got to be clever to do that."
Cahill will make his competitive bow for New York against Houston Dynamo on Friday.
