Reims scored a goal in each half to defeat Nancy 2-0 at home in Ligue 1 on Saturday.
The hosts were in control of the game right from the start and went ahead in the seventh minute when Gaetan Courtet headed home Antoine Devaux's delivery from close range.
Courtet almost scored his second goal of the afternoon two minutes later, but his header from the centre of the Nancy box was off target.
Nancy tried to stage a comeback, as Sebastien Puygrenier and Djamel Bakar both came close to restoring parity with headers from inside the box.
The visitors commenced the second half on a lively note, as Lossemy Karaboue and Joel Sami tested Agassa Kossi inside the first 10 minutes of the second period.
However, it was Reims who scored the second goal of the game when Diego converted a penalty conceded by Andre Luiz.
Both sides had chances thereafter, but Reims finished the game the stronger of the two teams and eventually won the game 2-0.
