Reims have pulled off a surprise 1-0 victory over Monaco in the Coupe de la Ligue this evening, with Antoine Devaux providing the home side with a vital first-half goal.
Reims were presented with the first chance of the game as Odair Fortes found space and was close to a tap-in, but Sergio Romero got back just in time to intercept the ball.
The interception led to a counter-attack straight away and Monaco could have taken the lead if Emmanuel Riviere had kept his header down.
The home side then made Monaco pay as Atila Turan picked out the advancing Devaux, who headed adroitly past the helpless Monaco goalkeeper.
Monaco searched for a leveller after half time and they almost found it when Valere Germain struck a fierce shot, which flew across the face of goal.
Reims should have put the game out of sight in the 68th minute, but Grzegorz Krychowiak couldn't make the most of a cross, which landed at his feet with the midfielder in plenty of space.
