Rennes attacking midfielder Romain Alessandrini has admitted that he was "apprehensive" about arriving for training with the France squad after his call-up by Didier Deschamps.
Alessandrini made his Ligue 1 debut at the start of this season after signing for Rennes from Ligue 2 side Clermont Foot.
He has said that he will do all he can to "repay the faith" that has been shown in him.
"I was a bit apprehensive, I hesitated a bit," Ligue1.com quotes Alessandrini as saying. "I followed the path and ended up finding the France team.
"I found myself saying hello to world-class players. I've only ever seen them on the TV before. It hasn't sunk in yet.
"There's a lot of pride and a fair bit of pressure, but I'll do all I can to repay the faith that has been shown in me."
France play Germany in a friendly on Wednesday night.
