Rennes have beaten 10-man Lyon in their Ligue 1 match this afternoon.
It was an attacking start from both sides, as Abdoulaye Doucoure had an effort saved by Anthony Lopes, while Lyon's Steed Malbranque and Clement Grenier went close.
However, it was soon 1-0 to the hosts. Romain Alessandrini delivered a corner and Cedric Hountondji headed in from close range.
Remi Garde's side came back well, although they failed to take three decent changes, with Alexandre Lacazette guilty of firing wide from inside the box. Samuel Umtiti was then sent off just before the break.
Mehdi Zeffane missed a chance for the visitors early in the second period, as did Anders Agnes Konradsen for Rennes.
The hosts doubled their lead when Ola Toivonen found the bottom corner from Doucoure's assist. However, Lyon continued to attack despite their numerical disadvantage.
Gael Danic fired wide as the match approached full time, but Rennes held on for the win.
