Jon Walters has called on his Ireland teammates to salvage something from their final Euro 2012 game against Italy, despite having already been eliminated.
The Stoke City striker admits that the players have let the nation down after two poor performances, but believes that the squad are keen to improve against the Italians.
Quoted by The People, Walters said: "You have hopes coming into the tournament but with two defeats we've let ourselves down and the fans down.
"Some top players never get a chance to play in a tournament and you've got to relish the opportunity, but you can't enjoy it when you're getting beat and that's why we have to go for the win in the Italy game."
Ireland's game against Italy is on Monday night.
