Robbie Keane has been ruled out of the Republic of Ireland's upcoming World Cup qualifier against Austria.
It was reported earlier today that the 32-year-old was due to undergo a scan on the calf injury that forced him to limp out of Friday's 0-0 draw away in Sweden.
The results of those tests have revealed that the damage is too severe for the Los Angeles Galaxy centre-forward to be considered for selection when Austria visit the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday.
As a result, coach Giovanni Trapattoni has instead called up Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Kevin Doyle as a replacement.
