England Under-21s' unbeaten start to their European Championship qualification campaign was ended as they lost 2-1 to Belgium in Mons last night.
Stuart Pearce's side took the lead through Liverpool defender Martin Kelly, who headed in from Reds teammate Jordan Henderson's cross.
Despite dominating the match, England could not extend their lead as Belgium goalkeeper Koen Casteels denied Henderson and Marvin Sordell.
Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also had an effort cleared off the line as the visitors struggled to build on their early goal.
England's missed chances then proved costly as Jens Naessens stabbed home from close range to equalise for the hosts.
Omar El Kaddouri then netted an injury time winner for Belgium after Jason Lowe's poor back-pass played in Ziguy Badibanga, whose shot rebounded off the post and into Kaddouri's path.
The reverse fixture between the two sides takes place in February of next year.
