Roma's on-loan defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is nearing a permanent switch to the Italian side from Newcastle United, according to reports.

The 25-year-old has been a regular in Rudi Garcia's side this season, featuring 16 times for the Giallorossi.

After 20 appearances, Roma have an obligation to purchase the French international for a fee of £6m, according to Sky Sports News.
