Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Scottish Premiership clash between Ross County and St Mirren, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

St Mirren face off against Ross County on Wednesday with a chance to move back to top spot of the Scottish Premiership's relegation round.

This is the second meeting between the sides since the turn of the year following a 1-0 win for the visitors back in February.

Match preview

St Mirren suffered defeat in their last league outing where they lost by a single goal to Motherwell at Fir Park on Sunday.

In a game where Jim Goodwin's men dominated proceedings, Jamie McGrath missed a first-half penalty which would later come back to haunt him as Devante Cole struck just past the hour mark to settle the contest.

However, The Buddies returned back to winning ways on Friday, albeit in the Scottish FA Cup, as they saw off the threat of Inverness to progress to the quarter-final.

St Mirren currently possess the best away record in the subdivision with 21 points from their 17 fixtures on the road this term.

Wednesday's visitors have enjoyed trips of late to the Global Energy Stadium, where they have won three of their last four games.

Ross County showed great character as they came from behind twice to earn a 2-2 draw away at Kilmarnock a fortnight ago.

John Hughes's men trailed after just three minutes to Chris Burke's goal, but they restored parity moments later through Michael Gardyne, before Mitchell Pinnock ensured that the hosts on the day went into the break with a 2-1 lead.

Alex Iacovitti had the final say on the contest as he levelled matters barely 10 minutes into the second period to ensure a share of the spoils.

That draw was enough to move the Staggies out of the relegation playoff spot, but there is work to in order to stay afloat.

Team News

Ross County's Tom Grivosti continues his spell on the treatment table due to a damaged knee ligament which has seen him not feature since November.

Callum Morris has missed the last six matches, and that run is set to extend as the 31-year-old is yet to recover from an ankle injury.

Rounding off the hosts' injury list is Connor Randall, who is still nursing a knee problem, but is not far off a return to action.

Eamonn Brophy is the only absentee for the visitors as the Scottish forward remains on the sidelines with a muscle injury.

Ross County possible starting lineup:
Laidlaw; Tremarco, Iacovitti, Watson, Naismith; Gardyne, Draper, Vigurs, Tillson; McKay, White

St Mirren possible starting lineup:
Alnwick; Fraser, McCarthy, Shaughnessy; Hayes, McAllister, McGrath, Durmus, Connolly; Dennis, Obika

We say: Ross County 1-2 St Mirren

The visitors have found a way to constantly nick wins on the road, and the hosts are very vulnerable at the back. While we do not see the away side scoring too many goals, we expect them to outscore the home side and claim all three points.
