Walsall have reportedly turned down an approach from Rotherham United to discuss their managerial vacancy with Saddlers boss Dean Smith.
It is believed that the Millers had identified the 44-year-old as their number one candidate to replace Steve Evans, who departed the Championship club last week.
However, League One outfit Walsall have rejected the proposal, according to BBC Sport.
Smith is the fourth longest-serving manager in professional English football, having been in position at the Bescot Stadium since January 2011.
