Huddersfield Town throw away a two-goal lead as Rotherham United take a point in the Yorkshire derby at the New York Stadium.

Rotherham United came back from two goals down to snatch a dramatic point at home against Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town at the New York Stadium this afternoon.

The Millers tried to forge an early lead with Emmanuel Ledesma's speculative strike from distance, but the visitors may feel that they should have been ahead soon after when Grant Holt failed to hit the target with only keeper Adam Collin to beat.

James Vaughan thought he had put the Terriers in front when he latched on to Harry Bunn's cross, but the striker was denied by a fine save from Collin.

Rotherham's best chance of the opening period came from a set piece as Tom Lawrence unleashed a fierce free kick that needed a solid stop low down from Town keeper Alex Smithies.

The visitors managed to take the lead before half time as Sean Scannell's low cross left Vaughan with an easy tap-in as he scored on his return from three months out with injury.

Within moments of the restart, Holt went close to doubling Huddersfield's advantage when Vaughan crossed for the former Norwich City frontman, who beat Collin only to be flagged for offside.

Rotherham could have been level but for a double save from Smithies, who kept out efforts from Richie Smallwood and Ledesma.

Just after the hour-mark, Town added a second when substitute Oscar Gobern provided a tantalising cross, which Conor Coady headed home.

With two minutes remaining, Jonson Clarke-Harris gave the Millers a faint hope of a salvaging something from the game with close-range header.

Rotherham then nicked a point in stoppage time as substitute Lee Frecklington's strike from distance found a way past Smithies, although the ball appeared to take a slight deflection on the way to goal.

The result leaves both sides five points above the drop zone.
