The Russian Football Association have announced that they will appeal against UEFA's sanctions.
The national side were punished with a suspended six-point penalty and a £96,000 fine after supporters were involved in a fracas with rival fans ahead of Russia's 4-1 win over the Czech Republic.
A statement was released, saying: "The federation will do all it can to ensure the national team avoids such a severe punishment."
A host of Russia supporters made the headlines earlier this week for getting involved in fights with Polish fans ahead of their sides' 1-1 draw.
