Saint-Etienne defeated Guingamp 2-1 in Ligue 1 this evening thanks to a brace from Max Gradel.
Gradel was looking lively from the start, missing the target narrowly in the 22nd minute before seeing a shot saved 10 minutes later.
He did break the deadlock in the 36th minute, directing the ball into the net from Yohan Mollo's pass.
Gradel scored his second shortly after the start of the second half, finding the bottom-right corner from 10 yards.
Claudio Beauvue pulled a goal back for Guingamp on the hour mark when he found the bottom corner from the penalty spot.
Guingamp pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages, but Lionel Mathis and Lars Jacobsen both missed the target, and Benjamin Angoua then saw his header saved in stoppage time.
