Sassuolo have been held to a goalless draw by Atlanta BC in Serie A this evening, despite creating a string of chances throughout the match.
Domenico Berardi forced a save inside the opening 10 minutes when he launched a powerful shot from just outside the box, but it was a comfortable stop for Marco Sportiello.
Nicola Sansone and Emanuele Terranova both came close as Sassuolo continued to look the more likely early on, but both fired wide from promising positions.
Atalanta started to threaten more shortly before half time, with German Denis trying to lash the ball in from outside the box, only to see his effort blocked.
Sassuolo were back on the attack again in the final seconds of the opening spell, with Pablo Cannavaro setting up Berardi for another shot, but he was unable to get the better of the keeper.
Berardi continued to stretch the visiting defenders at the start of the second half when Federico Peluso played a ball into the box for the striker, but again he was denied.
The hosts pressed for much of the second half as they tried to get off the mark, bringing on Sergio Floccari to apply some late pressure, but they could not beat Sportiello.
The result leaves Sassuolo 13th in the table, while Atalanta climb up to 15th.
