Scotland Under-21s are unable to find a breakthrough in the 90 minutes of their 2017 European Championships qualifier against Iceland Under-21s at Pittodrie.

Scotland Under-21s were held to goalless draw this evening in their 2017 European Championships qualifier against Iceland Under-21s.

The home side had the first chance of the game when John McGinn raided forward into the final third and laid the ball into the path of Jason Cummings, but his strike was saved by Frederik Schram.

Iceland hit back with a good opportunity as Oliver Sigurjonsson weaved his way past several Scotland defenders, but he could only curl his effort over the crossbar.

Cummings contiuned to be a threat for the home side when he was allowed to turn on the edge of the box and hold off two defenders before finding Sam Nicholson, but the midfielder's shot was well saved by Schram.

The visitors could have taken the lead just before the break when Vilhjalmsson blasted an effort towards the bottom corner, but his strike was well saved by Jack Hamilton.

In the second half, Ryan Christie should have handed his side the lead when he reacted first to a loose ball in the box, but Schram made a fine point-blank save to keep the scores level.

Scotland continued to threaten when Stephen Kingsley lifted the ball into the box for the run of Cummings, but his volley was kept at bay once again by a stop from Schram.

The home side had one final chance to find the win after Liam Shankland beat his man down the left and crossed the ball into the middle, but Kingsley could only guide his shot over the bar.
