Scotland boss Gordon Strachan: 'We must rise to Germany challenge'

Scotland boss Gordon Strachan is adamant that his side have to take the initiative in their Euro 2016 qualifying match against Germany at Hampden Park.

Scotland boss Gordon Strachan has called on his players to rise to the challenge of beating world champions Germany in their Euro 2016 qualifying clash.

The Scots' hopes of reaching the competition in France next year were dented by their 1-0 defeat to Georgia in Tbilisi, but Strachan has backed his team to bounce back from their disappointment by springing a surprise in their clash at Hampden Park.

He told reporters: "We will look forward to this wonderful challenge of playing the world champions. The players give me hope and playing here gives me hope.

"They're used to it. They're footballers and they've never gone through their careers and it's been easy. They've been getting knock-backs since they were 15 years old and that's why they're here.

"We will do it together. These are the kinds of people we need. Everybody has trained well and it shows that they are over their disappointment."

Scotland take on Germany in their Group D match on Monday.
