Charlie Adam unhappy with Scott Brown's inclusion in Scotland squad

Charlie Adam criticises Scotland manager Gordon Strachan's decision to include Scott Brown in his squad three months after the midfielder retired from international duty.

Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam has claimed that Scott Brown's inclusion in the Scotland squad is unfair on some of the members of the team pushing for a starting spot.

Brown announced his retirement from international football in August, but just three months later was included in Gordon Strachan's setup for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against England.

Adam, who has not played for his nation since June 2015, has criticised the decision to allow Brown to come back into the setup for the Wembley showdown.

"If I was in the position where I'd travelled to Malta and Slovakia and he just came straight back in to play against England, I'm going to be thinking, 'What's going on, why am I not getting an opportunity?" Adam told talkSPORT.

"I understand he's got 50 caps and he's done well for his country but once you retire let somebody else have an opportunity, because they've been waiting for an opportunity for a long time. If he's only going to come back for one game I don't feel it's right for the other players who are sat on the bench."

Scotland will face their rivals in London on Friday.
