Former Coventry City striker Gary McSheffrey has reportedly joined Scunthorpe United on trial after failing to gain a new contract with Chesterfield.
The 31-year-old joined Chesterfield on a short-term basis in September, but it is understood that he has not been offered fresh terms by the League Two club.
According to Sky Sports News, Scunthorpe have since taken the experienced forward on loan, with a decision over his future expected to be made within the next two weeks.
McSheffrey reportedly scored a hat-trick in a reserve match for Scunthorpe earlier this afternoon.
