Alberto Moreno has admitted that a call-up to the senior Spain squad "is the greatest thing that can happen to a player".
The Sevilla full-back, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks, was handed his first senior call-up this week following an injury to Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba.
"This is the greatest thing that can happen to a player, to be called up to the senior squad. I hoped as a child that someday this day would come. My chance has arrived and I hope that I can take it," he told reporters at a press conference.
"It is not every day that you join up with your national team. I am proud and happy. The trust shown by Spain in the younger players? I am encouraged by this and it gives me confidence to continue."
Moreno, 21, came through the Sevilla academy.
