Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough has admitted that he is interested in signing Derby County striker Johnny Russell.
Clough worked with the 23-year-old Scot at Pride Park before he was sacked by the Championship club in September.
Despite claiming that he is keen on Russell, the United manager insists that no contact has been made regarding a transfer.
"It's fair to see that he is on the list," Clough told the Derby Telegraph. "Then again, so are a few others.
"Johnny has got good qualities but we've not spoken with anyone about him yet because the window hasn't opened. We'll have to wait and see what happens because he's not the only one we're looking at."
Russell has scored five goals in 18 games for Derby so far this season.
