Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly pushing to complete a deal for Wigan Athletic midfielder Josh Windass.
With the Owls having lost five of their last six matches in the Championship, manager Garry Monk is eager to bring in fresh faces before Friday's deadline.
According to The Star, that has resulted in a sustained effort to sign Windass, either on a permanent or temporary basis.
The 26-year-old, formerly of Accrington Stanley and Rangers, has contributed four goals from 15 outings at the second tier this season.
While Wigan are said to have turned down Wednesday's most recent loan bid, it is claimed that negotiations are continuing between the two parties.
