Micky Mellon is reportedly expected to leave his role as Shrewsbury Town manager to take over at Tranmere Rovers.
The 44-year-old has been at the helm of New Meadow since May 2014, earning promotion to League One at the end of his first season.
According to BBC Radio Shropshire, Mellon intends to vacate the position in order to drop into the National League to join Tranmere, where he spent two spells of his playing career.
The Scotsman is expected to arrive at Prenton Park with his current assistant coach Mike Jackson, who also spent time at Tranmere as a player.
Shrewsbury currently sit second in the League One table after winning two, drawing four and losing five.
