Shrewsbury Town have signed defender Mark Ellis following his release by Crewe Alexandra.
The 25-year-old has agreed a two-year deal with the recently-relegated Shews, after not being offered a contract at Gresty Road.
"It's nice as I'd set myself a deadline to get something sorted and it's come a lot sooner, so that's pleasing," Ellis told BBC Radio Shropshire.
Ellis joined Alex before the 2012-13 season got underway and played a key role in the club's last two successful League One campaigns.
The defender joins Ashley Vincent and Nathaniel Knight-Percival as boss Micky Mellon gets to work shaping Town's new-look squad ahead of the new campaign.
