Southampton manager Charles Puel has acknowledged that competing in the Europa League poses an exciting challenge for everyone involved at the club.
On Thursday, the Saints begin their campaign in the group stages with a home fixture against Sparta Prague, and Puel has suggested that he is expecting a tough test against the Czech Republic outfit.
The 55-year-old told reporters: "I've had many European games but it's a new project for many players in the squad. It's very exciting for the players, for the club.
"They're a very good team. They start with the ball on the ground and it's very interesting to play them."
Last season, Sparta enjoyed a surprise run to the last eight of the competition before they were defeated by Villarreal.
