Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk has claimed that his side's 2-1 win over Inter Milan in the Europa League was "well deserved".
The Dutchman's strike and a Yuto Nagatomo own goal, both in the second half, helped to cancel out Mauro Icardi's first-half opener in Thursday's clash at St Mary's.
Van Dijk, who captained the Saints on the night, told BT Sport after the game: "The most important thing was that it was well deserved as well.
"We played good football, we were the dominating side, like before in Milan and today we rewarded ourselves with a win."
The result means that Southampton are second in Group K, three points clear of third-placed Hapoel Be'er Sheva and two behind group leaders Sparta Prague.
