Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has said that he hopes Graziano Pelle's first goal for the club will fill him with confidence.
Pelle netted his first goal for the Saints in their 2-0 League Cup victory at Millwall last night in the 90th minute after Jack Cork had also netted his first goal for the club.
"That's a great feeling for a striker," Koeman told the club's official website.
"If [strikers] don't score for two or three matches in a row then they get a bit nervous.
"Maybe this will give him the feeling and the confidence that he is a good striker."
Pelle arrived at St Mary's Stadium from Feyenoord in the summer and signed a three-year deal.
