Southampton manager Ronald Koeman believes that his side were worthy of a point from their Premier League clash against Aston Villa.
The sides played out a 1-1 draw at Villa Park on Monday evening, with the Saints rescuing a point thanks to a late equaliser from defender Nathaniel Clyne.
Koeman believes that Southampton were the better side on the night.
"I think we played well and we showed to be patient, to show the character to have the belief in scoring that equaliser," he told Southampton's official website.
"We deserved that one because we had a lot of domination in the ball possession. That's not always the key to win the game but we played more football than they did."
The South Coast club remain second in the Premier League, six points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
