Tyrone Mings not seeking revenge against Southampton

Ipswich Town full-back Tyrone Mings believes that he has 'proved Southampton wrong' after being forced out of the club as a youngster due to his small stature.

Ipswich Town defender Tyrone Mings has insisted that he is not out to gain revenge against former side Southampton tomorrow afternoon, despite being released by the club as a youngster.

The 21-year-old has gained many admirers due to his form in the Championship with high-fliers Ipswich Town this season, with Arsenal said to be among those interested in the left-back's services.

Mings has come a long way since being let go by the Saints as a 16-year-old due to his size, although ahead of tomorrow's FA Cup third-round meeting at St Mary's he maintains that the past does not concern him.

"My previous history doesn't really bother me," he is quoted as saying by The Telegraph. "I want to play in the game because I want to test myself against the best. I've no wish to get my revenge on anyone there.

"The youth manager who was there at the time made a decision that was right for his scholarship squad. I knew it was coming. They'd made it clear they thought I was too small.

"Personally, I feel I've already proved them wrong. Because of those they kept on, there's only Alex [Oxlade-Chamerlain] and Lloyd Isgrove still playing in the pro game."

Mings has featured 20 times for Ipswich this season, playing his part in the club's rise up to second place in the league table.
