Southampton have pegged back Championship high-flyers Ipswich Town to enter the break at 1-1 in their FA Cup third-round clash at St Mary's Stadium.
The first effort of the game came courtesy of the visitors in the eighth minute, with Kevin Bru pushing forward and dragging his effort wide of Fraser Forster's right-hand post.
There was plenty of action early on as both sides were intent on opening the scoring. Saints midfielder Victor Wanyama fired just wide from 25 yards and Ipswich midfielder Stephen Hunt seeing his shot saved at the other end.
The deadlock was broken in the 19th minute when a deep cross from Tyrone Mings fell to Darren Ambrose, who guided a precise header into the net to put the visitors ahead.
Southampton stepped it up a gear after conceding and found the equalising goal just after the half-hour mark when Morgan Schneiderlin latched onto a Graziano Pelle free kick and poked home.
