Ronald Koeman has admitted that a win over Watford would provide Southampton with the perfect tonic following their 3-0 defeat to Everton.
The Saints remain without a victory in the Premier League this season after they were comfortably beaten on home turf by the Toffees last weekend.
Koeman is hopeful that his players can build some confidence by taking three points away from Vicarage Road this Sunday.
"Of course after the defeat against Everton we need a win. We know that," the Dutchman is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.
"A win gives confidence to the players. It's important to get a good result this Sunday. Sometimes you don't want to put too much pressure on winning, but the best is to learn about mistakes."
Watford have taken two points from their opening two games in the Premier League this season.
