Ronald Koeman: 'I will not quit Southampton'

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman reiterates his desire to remain at St Mary's in the midst of speculation linking him with the Netherlands job.

Ronald Koeman has once more moved to distance himself from the Netherlands managerial job by insisting that he is happy at Southampton.

The 52-year-old is seen as the leading contender to replace Danny Blind as head coach following the Oranje's disappointment at missing out on a place at Euro 2016.

Koeman has repeatedly fended off questions about his future as Southampton boss, and has again claimed that he has no intention of stepping down from his position at St Mary's in order to take up a role with the national side.

"I'm manager of Southampton," talkSPORT quotes the Dutchman as saying. "I like to be the manager of Southampton, I like to stay, and I have after this season one year more, [so] there's no way, no possibility. Maybe in the future, but depending on a lot of things.

"The Dutch have to take the disappointment, and we have to learn and we have to give a reaction. And we have to change something - organisations, federations - we speak a lot about that. We don't have a football name on the board of the [KNVB] federation, it's crazy.

"But I'm happy in Southampton and we're doing well, and that's the most important thing. I can tell everybody - I told it already - I'm happy at Southampton, I'm the coach of Southampton and next season I will be the coach at Southampton, and then in my last year of contract we will see what happens."

Southampton are currently ninth in the Premier League table after winning back-to-back games prior to the international break.
