Sports Mole rates the best and worst players in the Premier League match between Southampton and West Ham United at St Mary's Stadium.

Southampton have been held to a goalless draw by 10-man West Ham United in their Premier League match this evening.

The Hammers found themselves a man down when Adrian handled the ball outside of his box.

Substitute keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen then came off the bench to make vital saves from Dusan Tadic and Jose Fonte, as the visitors earned a hard-fought point.

Here, Sports Mole takes a closer look at the events that unfolded at St Mary's Stadium.

SOUTHAMPTON:

Goal

Fraser Forster: Was virtually a spectator all evening and did not have a save to make as his side dominated. (6/10)

Defence

Nathaniel Clyne: Constantly got forward down the right throughout the match and supplied some dangerous crosses. (7/10)

Jose Fonte: Solid at the back, although he had little to deal with. He also came close to scoring at the end, but was denied by a good save from Jaaskelainen. (6/10)

Florin Gardos: Dealt easily with the minimal threat that West Ham posed and used the ball well. (6/10)

Maya Yoshida: Struggled to get too involved in the match and received a nasty cut to his face early in the second half thanks to a high boot from Cole. (6/10)

Midfield

Steven Davis: Had a decent game in the middle of the pitch and helped Southampton to dominate possession from the start. (7/10)

Victor Wanyama: Put in some strong challenges, but his final ball let him down. (6/10)

Harrison Reed: Looked good in possession and slotted well into the Saints midfield without ever really creating any standout chances. (7/10)

Attack

Sadio Mane: Had a lively first half and tried his luck on goal on a couple of occasions, but he faded badly after the break and was replaced late on by Djuricic. (6/10)

Eljero Elia: Came close with a decent strike in the first half, but it was his only real contribution and he was replaced by Tadic just past the hour mark. (6/10)

Graziano Pelle: The Italian endured a frustrating evening for the Saints. He received little service and when he did get on the ball his shots were tame and never caused a threat for the keeper. (6/10)

Substitutes

James Ward-Prowse: Played some fine balls after coming on midway through the second half, but could not inspire his team to a victory. (6/10)

Dusan Tadic: Was involved in most of Southampton's best moves after coming off the bench and he almost scored with an effort that the keeper palmed away deep into stoppage time. (7/10)

Filip Djuricic: Came on for the final nine minutes and barely made an impact. (6/10)

WEST HAM:

Goal

Adrian: His mistake on the hour mark almost cost his team a point. It was a poor decision to try to dribble past Mane and he made things worse by handling outside of his box as he tried to recover. He was deservedly sent off and he must be thankful that his teammates were able to hang on in his absence. (4/10)

Defence

Carl Jenkinson: Really solid outing from the full back who was rarely beaten down his side. He made some crucial interceptions, including a goal-line clearance early in the match. (7/10)

James Tomkins: The Welshman was a rock throughout and coped well with the threat of Pelle. (8/10)

Cheikhou Kouyate: Very impressive showing from the Senegal international. Was powerful in the air and was always strong in the challenge. (8/10)

Aaaron Cresswell: Was given plenty of trouble down his side of the pitch, but coped well with the threat of Clyne. (7/10)

Midfield

Alex Song: Not the best of evenings for the former Arsenal man. He gave away possession cheaply on a number of occasions and struggled against the home side's midfield. (6/10)

Stewart Downing: Put in plenty of effort and worked hard for his team all evening. (7/10)

Morgan Amalfitano: Found it hard to get into the match, but put in a decent shift. (6/10)

Attack

Diafra Sakho: Was not given too much support in the attack and was replaced by Carroll shortly after the break. (6/10)

Enner Valencia: Another of the West Ham frontline who were starved of the ball. Following an ineffective first half, he was taken off for Jarvis at the interval. (6/10)

Carlton Cole: Battled well up front, but could easily have been shown a second yellow card for a high challenge on Yoshida that left a cut just below the Southampton defender's eye. (6/10)

Substitutes

Jussi Jaaskelainen: Was thrown into the action following the dismissal of Adrian, but produced an outstanding display. Made a couple of great saves to deny Tadic and Fonte in the final minutes. (8/10)

Andy Carroll: Was brought on 10 minutes after the break, but never looked fit and struggled badly with an injury in the closing stages. (6/10)

Matt Jarvis: Did not see much of the ball after coming on at half time. (6/10)
