Southampton recorded their first Premier League victory of the season thanks in part to Dusan Tadic, who scored a brace in their 3-0 win over Norwich City this afternoon.

Steven Whittaker saw red for the visitors in the 31st minute, before Graziano Pelle broke the deadlock for the Saints in first-half stoppage time.

After the restart it was left to Tadic to make sure of the outcome as he found the net twice within the space of three minutes.

Here, Sports Mole has rated the performances of all of the players on show at the St Mary's Stadium.

Goal

Maarten Stekelenburg: Norwich did not pose much of a threat before the red card and then after it their attack was non existent. It meant that there was very little for Southampton's Dutch goalkeeper to do. (6/10)

Defence

Cedric Soares: The right-back was given plenty of space, particularly during the second half, which he exploited. It was his cross that resulted in Southampton's third goal. (7/10)

Jose Fonte: It was a comfortable afternoon for the captain, who did what little work he had to do with minimal fuss. (6/10)

Maya Yoshida: With Norwich down to 10 men, the Japanese centre-back ventured forward on a couple occasions and looked dangerous. (6/10)

Matt Targett: Norwich winger Redmond has caused problems to some full-backs in recent weeks, but Targett kept him quiet. (6/10)

Midfield

Oriol Romeu: Operating in the holding midfield role, the recent arrival from Chelsea won back possession and always kept things simple. (6/10)

Steven Davis: The tireless midfielder did little wrong during the first half, but with Norwich down to 10 men, it was he that was sacrificed by his manager to get the more attack-minded Rodriguez on to the pitch. (6/10)

James Ward-Prowse: On a couple of occasions the England Under-21 international sent dangerous crosses into the Norwich penalty area, but his teammates were unable to benefit. (6/10)

Dusan Tadic: The two-goal hero made the points safe after the restart. His first goal was a really composed finish, while the second saw him show quick reactions. (8/10)

Sadio Mane: He took a little while to find some rhythm, but once he did, Mane was the best player on the pitch. The winger had a role in his side's three goals and rightly received a standing ovation when he was substituted in the closing stages. (8/10)

Attack

Graziano Pelle: There have been question marks over the Italian's form this season, but he responded by opening the scoring with a neat finish. He also used his physical presence well on numerous occasions. (7/10)

Substitutes

Jay Rodriguez: Fully fit after a serious knee injury, the striker added some fresh attacking impetus after his half-time introduction. (7/10)

Cuco Martina: The summer signing came on in the closing stages and did little wrong. (6/10)

Juanmi: On for his Premier League debut, the youngster made one positive run that almost ended in a goal. (6/10)

Goal

John Ruddy: To be fair to the Norwich goalkeeper, he could do nothing about the goals and also made some decent saves. (6/10)

Defence

Steven Whittaker: Talk about letting your teammates and manager down. There was only a matter of a few first-half minutes between Whittaker's two bookings, both of which were needless. (3/10)

Russell Martin: The Scot found it tough to deal with Pelle's movement, highlighted by the game's opening goal. (5/10)

Sebastien Bassong: Although Martin struggled, Bassong did better against Pelle. He bullied the Italian at times. (6/10)

Robbie Brady: The second Southampton goal came as a result of Brady not closing down the cross quickly enough, while his crossing up the other end was also uncharacteristically poor. (5/10)

Midfield

Alex Tettey: The Norwegian put in a decent shift for the cause and ended up having his side's only shot on target. (6/10)

Graham Dorrans: He worked hard for his team and actually created their only real chance of the first half for Jerome, but the Scot struggled to make an impact once Norwich went down to 10 men. (5/10)

Jonny Howson: While nobody can doubt Howson's effort, he made very little contribution to the Norwich cause. (4/10)

Wes Hoolahan: The Irish playmaker was substituted early on through no fault of his own following the dismissal of Whittaker. Having said that, he had little impact while he was on the pitch. (5/10)

Nathan Redmond: The winger has been lively in recent weeks, but he struggled to have a say on proceedings on the South Coast. (6/10)

Attack

Cameron Jerome: Any chance Jerome had of having a big say on this encounter went with the red card. After that, he was too isolated up front, with virtually no service or support to speak of. (5/10)

Substitutes

Andre Wisdom: By and large Wisdom defended well after his introduction, but he should have done better for the second goal. (6/10)

Bradley Johnson: The midfielder came on when the game was done and dusted. (5/10)

Gary Hooper: He was introduced in stoppage time and therefore had no time to make an impact. (5/10)
