Southampton striker Sam Gallagher has revealed that he feels "very proud" after being handed a long-term deal at St Mary's Stadium.
Gallagher has become a regular fixture in the Saints' first-team squad during the second half of the campaign, and the England Under-19 international has admitted that extending his stay on the South Coast is the perfect end to his breakthrough year at the club.
The 18-year-old told the club's official website: "It's been a big year for me and this just tops it off. I'm very happy and very proud. I won't forget this day.
"This is a bit different from signing your first professional contract - everyone talks about this contract being a lot harder to get, so I'm very, very happy."
Gallagher has scored twice in 19 appearances for Southampton this season.
