Ronald Koeman: 'Player exodus at Southampton will not be repeated'

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman tells supporters to expect a quieter summer this time around, compared to last year when a raft of players left St Mary's.

Ronald Koeman is expecting a quiet summer transfer window at Southampton, claiming that no approach has yet been made for any of his players.

The Saints lost a number of key men last year, including the likes of Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Calum Chambers, who collectively raked in close to £100m for the South Coast club.

Despite the disruption to his squad last year, Koeman has managed to regroup his side and lead them on their way to a top-six challenge in the closing weeks of the campaign.

However, the Dutchman believes that departures from St Mary's will be kept to a minimum this time around, telling reporters: "I don't think it will be the same changes in the club that we had last season.

"It's still quiet regarding all the players, there has not been one serious bid on the table for a player of Southampton. It's all about rumours in the press, but nobody, no club, has knocked on the door to have questions about players of Southampton.

"Of course, it's maybe too early. Everybody is waiting until the end of the season to make decisions about players and transfers and we will wait, but normally, it will be a more quiet summer than last year."

Southampton confirmed earlier this week that striker Jay Rodriguez has committed his future to the club by extending his current deal until the summer of 2019.
